Padlock and https Signs
When you see a padlock icon next to a website’s address, that means the site is secured using digital certificates. As a result, you don’t have to worry about any data sent between your browser and the site being intercepted by a different computer or online eavesdropper.
Also, HTTPS is the secure version of HTTP, which is used to transmit data. It uses an encrypted connection that prevents eavesdropping and forgery, so it can be assured that the website is secure. Websites are often made HTTPS secure by having the domain name include “https” rather than “http”. There are many ways to make a website HTTPS secure, but one way is to use intermediaries, such as third-party companies with their own certificates.
